While running for lieutenant governor of Alaska accepting $4500 from the VECO Company in the same fund raising scheme that led to the downfall of Ted Stephens. Company founder Bill Allen admitted that the plan violated federal tax law but said none the less ...
"If they’re working with the oil industry, I’d like to help with their campaigns,’’ Allen testified last year in the corruption trial of a former state lawmaker. "
During her time has governor Sarah Palin asked for $300 per citizen (the highest in the country) in earmarks for Alaska from the indicted Ted Stephens.
During her time as mayor of Wasilla Palin hired a lobbying firm in a successful bid to win $27 million in earmarks for her tiny town of 950o. McCain has worked in the Senate to end earmarks and pork projects.
Despite what the McCain camp and the RNC want you to believe Sarah Palin is not the reformer that they portray her to be. She had worked closely with Ted Stephens (a longtime Senate enemy of John McCain) in the past, acquiring millions in earmarks and pork projects for her state.
